Finally, spring has sprung! The sunny days and warm temperatures
signal the time for spring-cleaning, spring alpaca shows
and SPRING CRIAS! We were expecting three crias this spring
in April, May and June but the little ones had a completely
different idea and they all came in May.
The
first to check in was our full Accoyo male, "Accoyo
Royal Thunder." He was born on May 3rd, 2003, and weighed
in at 19.2 lbs. Royal Thunder is the son of the famous herdsire
Royal Fawn and Peruvian import, CPeruvian Accoyo Canada
Blue. Thunder's white fleece is very lustrous and crimpy
and seems to have excellent coverage. He certainly enjoys
running around the pasture and keeping the adults very busy.
Our
second cria to arrive came on May 22nd and was named Charlemagne.
At birth, he weighed 20 lbs and is a beautiful light fawn
color with distinctive vicuna markings. He carries dark
genes with his sire, Captain Midnight, being true black
and his dam, Xandrea, being bay black. Charlemagne prances
out to the pasture, carrying himself very proudly and looks
to be a promising future herdsire.
Arriving
on May 29th was Sherman, son of Peruvian Whitney and Peruvian
Black Out. Weighing in at 17.2 lbs little Sherman couldn't
be cuter with his curly, dark fawn fleece. He has a LOT
of energy and a very spunky attitude. His two older mates
have to work hard to keep pace with the "Little General".
